10th Annual Henry and Sylvia Wong Symposium for Nurses

The Tenth Annual Henry and Sylvia Wong Symposium for Nurses, held on March 17, 2017, focused on the theme “When Compassion Becomes Fatigue.” The event, hosted by the North Central Association of California Nurse Leaders (ACNL), aimed to address the challenges nurses face in maintaining high-performance levels while managing the emotional toll of compassionate care. Dr. Henry and Mrs. Sylvia Wong generously provided the Nursing Leadership Education grant for the symposium.

The symposium featured a comprehensive agenda, including presentations by esteemed professionals in the nursing field. Topics ranged from understanding and managing compassion fatigue in nursing leadership to examining the impact of healthcare policy on patient care. Attendees also learned about tactics nurses employ to ensure patient safety and explored demographic data to understand leaders’ resources in delivering care.

The event emphasized the importance of self-care for nurses and healthcare leaders. Sessions led by experts focused on strategies to rejuvenate the spirit and promote relaxation and mindfulness. Attendees had the opportunity to participate in yoga sessions aimed at enhancing well-being and reducing stress.
